South Sumas and Vedder work still on track for substantial completion by September 30
CHILLIWACK — It won’t be much longer before the reconstruction of the intersection of Vedder Road and South Sumas Road wraps up.
The City of Chilliwack confirmed in an email Tuesday that the overhaul of the heavily traveled intersection should be done in about two weeks by its scheduled completion date.
“The road widening and signal improvements for the intersection of Vedder Road and South Sumas Road are on track to be substantially completed by September 30,” city spokesperson Jamie Leggatt said via email Tuesday. “Following that, any minor deficiencies identified will be completed as weather permits.”
Following a series of lengthy delays, including some that were beyond the city’s control, full construction of the Vedder/South Sumas intersection began on Monday, June 12. Improvements to the busy intersection of Vedder Road and South Sumas Road in Chilliwack have taken longer than expected.
