CHILLIWACK — The City of Chilliwack says it has upgraded the field lighting at Exhibition Field, also known as Exhibition Stadium, to LED lighting, providing reduced energy consumption, more balanced lighting distribution and diminished light pollution.

According to information provided by the city of Chilliwack, the municipality completed the upgrade of field lighting at Exhibition Field to LED fixtures on August 21, 2023. The $304,000 project was approved by Chilliwack city council at its meeting on April 11, 2023 and enabled the city to move forward with purchasing Musco LED field lighting components.

In an April 2023 staff report from Darrell Lindhout, superintendent of civic facilities for the city of Chilliwack, the city wrote that the existing field lights at Exhibition Field, located within The Landing site, had come to the end of their service life and required replacement.

The $304,000 project as approved by Chilliwack council members carried a 25-year warranty for parts and labour with 24/7 support. It allows the city to remotely manage the lighting systems, including light scheduling from multiple staff portals, remote on-off and dimming capability, and prompt notifications when there are lamp outages or control issues.
