CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack Search and Rescue volunteers were dispatched Sunday afternoon (Sept. 10) for a rescue effort west of Lindeman Lake.

According to Chilliwack River Valley resident and witness Derrick Kramer, Chilliwack SAR and BC Ambulance Service were dispatched after an individual suffered an apparent injury near Goat Ridge, an area west of Lindeman Lake in the Chilliwack River Valley.

Goat Ridge trail, also known as the Goat Mountain hike by some, is described as a tough, challenging jaunt that takes hikers up steep sections of forest before elevating to a vista point at Porcupine Rock overlooking Lindeman Lake.

According to Kramer, rescue personnel used a long line extraction to bring the injured individual to an area near Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park where BC Ambulance Service was waiting to transport the patient to hospital.

After speaking with rescue volunteers, Kramer believes the person suffered some kind of leg injury, possibly a fractured leg. This has not been confirmed by authorities.

The incident happened sometime after 3 p.m. A helicopter extracted the patient sometime after 4 p.m.
