BURNABY — The City of Burnaby has officially opened the Christine Sinclair Community Centre, named after the soccer star who started playing in the city when she was just two-years-old.
The city says the facility features state-of-the-art amenities, adding to its Burnaby Lake sports hub with a large gymnasium for competitions, a weight room, a sauna steam room, and a cycling studio.
The city approved the renaming back in April 2021, to honour Sinclair’s contributions to the city and profile on the international soccer scene.
Saturday’s kickoff featured a number of activities and events, and the city says Sinclair was on hand to sign autographs after the opening ceremony.
