FRASER CANYON — The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure announced Thursday night that Highway 1 has been closed through the Fraser Canyon north of Hope.

The next update will occur at 9 p.m. Thursday night.

The road closure coincides with an evacuation order issued by the Fraser Valley Regional District Thursday night, August 17 for the area of Kookapi Creek along both north and south sides of the Nahatlatch River, west of the Fraser Canyon communities of Keefers and Boothroyd.

The FVRD wrote in an Alertable public safety bulletin posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, that residents in the area west of Boothroyd and Keefers in the Fraser Canyon must leave the designated area immediately due to the threat to life and safety.
