IHIT identifies victim in Abbotsford homicide

ABBOTSFORD — A 46-year-old Abbotsford man faces charges in relation to a homicide that occurred earlier this week in Abbotsford west of Clearbrook.

According to a news release from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, Chancal Badwal, 46, has been arrested in connection to the killing of Imtiaz Hussain, 62, in Abbotsford.

IHIT is reaching out to the community for any information they may have on the circumstances surrounding the homicide.

On Tuesday, July 18, at 7:06 a.m., the Abbotsford Police Department was notified about suspicious death in the 31000 block of Madiera Place in Abbotsford. On arrival, officers discovered a 62-year old man, later identified as Imtiaz Hussain of Abbotsford, deceased. As a result of evidence obtained by investigators, a 46-year old man was arrested and taken into custody. IHIT took conduct of the investigation and continues to work closely in partnership with AbbyPD and the BC Coroners Service.
