Canada Day celebrations in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford will have extensive opportunities for residents to celebrate the Canada Day holiday.

Events begin with a special Canada Day flea market at the Abbotsford Exhibition Grounds from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. More events open at the Exhibition Grounds at 10 a.m. including a community booth where local non-profits, businesses and artisan booths will be set up inside the Ag-Rec building.

Just outside the Ag-Rec building, a community stage will be set up to host a variety of local musicians, dance performances and cultural programming. The stage performances will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Exhibition Grounds is the centre of Canada Day activities in Abbotsford

One of the highlights of the Canada Day celebrations will be the parade. The Canada Day Parade starts at 11 a.m. and runs down South Fraser Way from Bourquin Street to Trethewey Street. The route has a minor change this year with the parade ending at South Fraser Way and Trethewey Street.

There will be sensory friendly zones available to families. The City of Abbotsford is hosting a sensory friendly zone in the gallery inside the AgRec building from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition, the Canucks Autism Network will host a sensory friendly space in their tent at Rotary Stadium. It will be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Entertainment on the Main Stage at Exhibition Park begins at 1 p.m. and continues through to 10 p.m. with Abbotsford’s Becca Hess headlining the show. The country music artist takes the stage at 9 p.m.

The entertainment wraps up with a video and a laser light show finale at 10 p.m.
