Fraser Canyon Hospital in Hope reopens after fatal police-involved shooting
HOPE — Fraser Health says the emergency department at Fraser Canyon Hospital has reopened following a fatal police-involved shooting on Wednesday afternoon (June 27).
The emergency department closed its doors Wednesday in order to allow the provincial police watchdog agency, the Independent Investigations Office, to investigate an interaction between the RCMP and a man at Fraser Canyon Hospital. The incident ended when a Mountie discharged a gun at a man.
Police say the man received immediate medical attention but was pronounced dead at the scene.
RCMP were initially called to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 5, where multiple people had sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital.
