CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Chiefs say one of their fan favourites this past season will have a new home on Vancouver Island this coming year.

The Chiefs announced Wednesday that forward Dalton MacGillivray has been traded to the Cowichan Valley Capitals in exchange for future considerations.

The 2004-born forward netted 15 points in 44 games in his rookie season for the Chiefs.

“Dalton is a great kid that gave us everything last year. We were able to move him all around our lineup and use him in all situations,” said GM and head coach Brian Maloney.

MacGillivray quickly became a fan favourite known for his constant smile, big personality, and intense style of play.

“With who we have coming back and who’s coming in, we felt we wanted to give Dalton more of an opportunity to grow as a 19-year-old player in this league. We have decided to move him to Cowichan. We wish him all the best and want to thank him for everything,” said Maloney.

The Chiefs added in a statement, “Thank you DMac for your dedication to our community and best of luck with the Capitals.”
