
Mission man found guilty of sexual assault for groping a woman on a trail
ABBOTSFORD — A Mission man who was arrested in Abbotsford for his role in a disturbing incident on a Lynn Valley trail in February 2022 has been found guilty of one count of sexual assault.
North Vancouver RCMP said Wednesday that Jairus-Paul Covacha Sacramento of Mission was found guilty of sexual assault following a North Vancouver Provincial Court trail. He will be sentenced at a later date.
North Vancouver RCMP said in February 2022 that a suspicious male sexually assaulted a woman by groping her on the Varley Trail in Lynn Canyon Park.
“This was a traumatizing incident for the victim, and impacted the community’s sense of safety,” said Cst. Mansoor Sahak, media relations officer for the North Vancouver RCMP. “We are grateful to the public for helping bring this case to a resolution, and reaffirm our commitment to keep this community safe from those who seek to victimize others.”
