Chilliwack firefighters respond to campfire burning Wednesday night at Tamihi Creek Bridge
CHILLIWACK — Some people must have missed the memo about the province-wide campfire ban that went into effect last week, or the fires raging throughout the pristine forests of British Columbia.
A crew of five firefighters from the Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department responded Wednesday night (June 14) to a burning complaint near the Tamihi Rapids Recreation site, on the north side of the bridge, sometime after 8:30 p.m.
According to scanner traffic, the campfire was extinguished once firefighters responded, and the individuals involved with the fire were reminded about the fire bylaws currently in effect.
Crews from the all-volunteer Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department cleared the scene shortly after 9 p.m. and returned to the fire hall on Chilliwack Lake Road.
