SURREY — A 31-year-old man has been charged with assault and causing a disturbance after he unleashed an angry tirade against staff at a Tim Hortons in Surrey that was caught on video in February 2023.

Surrey RCMP Corporal Vanessa Munn, media relations spokesperson, released a statement Friday (June 2) saying that charges have been laid against a 31-year-old man in relation to an incident that occurred in a Panorama-area drive-through earlier this year.

On February 5, 2023, the incident in the 15200 block of 56 Avenue involved a man berating drive-through staff at the quick serve restaurant. Surrey RCMP frontline officers were able to identify an alleged suspect through their investigation and a report was submitted to B.C. Prosecution Service recommending charges.

On May 3, Omar Christian Maybaum was charged with assault and causing a disturbance. An endorsed warrant was issued for his arrest.
