Fundraiser at Corky’s Irish Pub Friday night for man hoping to meet his family

CHILLIWACK — Corky’s Pub in Chilliwack will host a fundraiser Friday night (May 26) for a Chilliwack man who hopes to meet his family in Ontario for the first time.

Ashley Johnson, an outreach support worker for adults with disabilities here in Chilliwack, says a client named Bob that she personally knows has been without family connections for 40 years. Around Christmas last year, Bob was able to connect with family in Mission, B.C.

“He now has an opportunity to meet his Ontario family and we would like to support him to achieve this momentous goal,” Johnson said. “Bob currently Facetimes them once a week and dreams to go meet them. We are helping [him] with fundraising so that he can meet his family in Ontario, for the first time!”

Toward that end, Corky’s Irish Pub (3-45844 Yale Road) will hold a Pub Night Friday night, May 26 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 each and include a burger and fries. There will also be a silent auction tonight, and a Twisted Cowboy beef jerky fundraiser for Father’s Day. Packages are $12 for 80g.
