ABBOTSFORD — Police are on the lookout in Abbotsford for a man who can’t seem to keep his clothes on in a public place.

Abbotsford Police distributed an online bulletin via Facebook and Twitter Friday (Apr. 28) about another incident involving indecent exposure committed by an unknown male.

According to its Twitter and Facebook accounts, the Abbotsford Police Department responded to a report of an indecent act within the trails of Downes Bowl Park north of Clearbrook. A witness advised police that a man had exposed himself to a female and fled the area. Multiple Abbotsford Police Department officers responded to the area and conducted a thorough search, but the man was not located.

In a statement posted online, the Abbotsford Police Department said it proactively patrolled the area and is asking the public to report any suspicious activity. Police said it’s unclear if this incident is connected to another incident in which a woman reported a man exposing himself on March 30.

“AbbyPD will continue to update the public with new information as it becomes available,” police wrote online. “Keeping our community informed is a top priority for us.”

The incident Friday mirrors similar activity at a park on Maclure Road in Abbotsford.

On Thursday, March 30, at 11:50 a.m., Abbotsford PD patrol officers responded to Elwood Park for a reported indecent act in the 31400 block of Maclure Road, according to Sgt. Paul Walker, media relations spokesman for the Abbotsford Police Department. The female caller advised that she witnessed a man in the park exposing himself upon seeing her. The man is described as a tanned-skinned male, 40-50 years old, 5’8″ tall, with grey hair.

Upon police arrival on March 30, the alleged suspect had left the park. Since this incident, the female victim observed the same man in the park at noon on Friday, April 14 at about noon. On this latter occasion, the man appeared to follow the female before leaving the area on foot.

Police say they’re obviously concerned, and the Abbotsford PD General Investigative Section is leading the investigation. Investigators have released a composite sketch of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man. Investigators are seeking witnesses from anyone in the park on either March 30 or April 14.
