Editor’s note: Now that the police incident downtown has been resolved and officer safety is no longer an immediate concern, Fraser Valley Today is using a picture of the RCMP officers outside a downtown bank taken by a Pattison Media employee. During the police incident, Fraser Valley Today complied with a request from RCMP Sgt. Krista Vrolyk, at 12:51 p.m. over the phone, to not publish pictures or video of the incident due to the active nature of the incident. As a result, we used a stock image of an RCMP vehicle unit during the incident and sought to minimize information about what was transpiring, as officer safety is paramount.
