Site prep underway for Petro-Canada, drive-through restaurant on Evans Rd.

CHILLIWACK — Site prep work is underway at the corner of Commercial Court and Evans Road, just south of the Walmart on Eagle Landing, that will see a Petro-Canada gas station, car wash, drive-through restaurant, and a convenience store built on a busy thoroughfare in Chilliwack.

Once built, it will be the sixth Petro Canada retail location in Chilliwack, excluding the Petro-Pass commercial fueling network.

According to Jamie Leggatt, director of communications for the city of Chilliwack, a development permit for “form and character” was approved by Chilliwack City Council in August 2022.

A building permit has been applied for and is anticipated to be issued soon, Leggatt said. In the meantime, site preparation work has begun.

The official location is 45044 Commercial Court, on the southwest corner of Evans Road and Commercial Court and within the same premises as the Concentrix call centre and La-Z-Boy retail centre.

The site being developed is 0.66 hectares and will include four electric vehicle-charging stations.

While proposed signage appears to show “Neighbours” as the convenience store name accompanied by Petro Canada branding imagery, and A Second Cup coffee sign appears to be part of the exterior signage for the proposed building, Fraser Valley Today has been contacted by a member of the public saying the drive-through will instead be Starbucks, not Second Cup.

There are five Petro Canada retail locations in Chilliwack, including one in Yarrow (42221 Yarrow Central Road), one in Popkum (53003 Bunker Road), one in Sardis (7591 Vedder Road), and two on the north side of the highway including 45632 Airport Road (Airport and Yale) and 8100 Young Road, just off westbound Hwy. 1. There are also two Petro Pass locations in Chilliwack (Yale Road near Service B.C. and Yale Road in Greendale, near exit 109).
