Chilliwack Chiefs open second round with victory in Nanaimo
NANAIMO — Dylan Kinch scored with less than 6 minutes remaining in regulation time to lift the Chilliwack Chiefs to a 2-1 victory over the Clippers in Nanaimo Friday (Apr. 14) night. The win gave the Chiefs a 1-0 series lead in the best-of-seven second-round BCHL playoff series.
The Clippers scored the first goal of the game when Jeremie Payantj struck with a shorthanded goal at 5:18 of the second period.
But the Chiefs answered back later in the period when Lucas Sorace scored his first goal of the playoffs at 17:08, sending the teams tied at 1 after 40 minutes.
Lucas Szyszka was strong in the Chiefs net, stopping 34 of 35 Nanaimo shots over the night. Aidan Campbell faced 21 Chilliwack shots.
