Chilliwack Chiefs dominate Coquitlam to take commanding 3 – 1 lead in playoff series
CHILLIWACK — AJ Lacroix and Tim Delay scored two goals each to lead the Chilliwack Chiefs to a lopsided 7 – 2 victory over the Coquitlam Express Wednesday (Apr. 5) night in Chilliwack. The victory gave the Chiefs a decisive three games to one lead in the best-of-seven first-round BCHL playoff series.
After a loss in game three a night earlier, the Chiefs used their home ice advantage to swarm Express netminder Brady Smith through the first half of the game. They outshot the Express 14 – 6 in the first period, beating Smith twice late in the period. Then they blew the game open with three goals in less than four minutes in the second period to take a 5 – 0 lead, chasing Smith from the net.
Mason Kesselring had a goal and an assist in the victory while Abram Wiebe and Aaron Davidson chipped in with singles. Lucas Sorace had two assists in the win.
Liam Tanner and Evan Brown scored goals for the Express who must win three straight games to advance to the second round of the playoffs. Game five in the series is scheduled for Coquitlam Friday night at 7 p.m.
