CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack City Council will review at its meeting this coming week a request from the Jolly Miller Pub on Vedder Road to build an addition to enclose the patio of its establishment at 5865 Vedder Road in Sardis.

According to items 11.4.2 and 13.3 on this Tuesday’s council meeting agenda, the applicant, Graeme Elliot, is seeking to reduce the minimum front lot line setback from 10 metres to 0.8 metres within a C5 liquor zone and construct an addition to enclose the patio of the existing commercial building.

Approval of a development variance permit and development permit will be required from council in order for the applicant to proceed.

In summary, the proposal aims to construct a 150-m² addition to enclose the existing patio area of the Jolly Miller Pub and utilize materials like tempered glass panels with a wood frame and aluminum rafters. The proposed glass structure would be clear with no frosting or tinting to obstruct patron views.

In a staff report prepared by planner Joty Rai, the proposal also accommodates a 5-metre supplementary setback required for future road widening along Vedder Road.
