
B.C. govt. to fund new school buses for SD33, roofing upgrades at McCammon, Strathcona
CHILLIWACK — The B.C. government says it will cover the cost of three new school buses for Chilliwack School District as part of its 2023 budget, and fund roofing upgrades at two elementary schools in Chilliwack.
In a news release Wednesday, the province says it will allocate $261.1 million in 2023-24 for school maintenance projects, including $41 million to upgrade heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems at 101 schools throughout the province.
As part of the school maintenance funding, $13 million will fund the purchase of at least 67 new schools buses in B.C., including three buses for SD33.
It will also cover roofing upgrades at McCammon Elementary and Strathcona Elementary, and allocate funding to pay for HVAC upgrades at Strathcona Elementary.
