ABBOTSFORD — A Fraser Valley teenager will have to live with the consequences of reckless driving after being observed by Abbotsford Police early Monday morning (March 13) at 100 kilometers over a posted speed limit in a luxury vehicle owned by his parent(s).

In a tweet from the Abbotsford Police Department, patrol officers were conducting traffic enforcement just after 1 a.m. Monday when a 17-year-old class 7 N driver was seen driving 150 kilometers in a 50-kilometre zone.

Police said the driver committed a series of motor vehicle infractions, resulting in over $1,000 fines issued. The driver’s parent’s vehicle was subsequently impounded.

“The rain doesn’t stop our patrol officers from conducting traffic enforcement,” Abbotsford Police added in its tweet.

Back on February 20, Abbotsford police identified a vehicle travelling at 140 km/h along Gladwin Road at Mclure Road. That stretch of road has a speed limit of just 50 km/h. Police issued the ticket to the 17-year-old driver and then impounded the car immediately. Police say the silver coloured Jaguar belonged to the parents of the driver.

Just days later on February 24, a 19-year-old Fraser Valley driver was caught driving 165 kilometres an hour in a 60-km zone by Abbotsford Police.
