Cheam Leisure Centre swim registration opens this coming week
CHILLIWACK — The demand for the next round of swim lesson registration at the Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre was quite high this past Monday (Feb. 27) when it opened up, resulting in a few technical glitches.
Parents in Chilliwack who may have missed out on that brief registration window have a second chance to get their kids into the next batch of swim lessons, this time at the Cheam Leisure Centre, starting Monday, March 6 at 9 a.m.
“We are offering a limited number of lessons during this season,” the YMCA/Cheam Leisure Centre wrote on its joint website. “We look forward to growing our swim lesson programs and having more spaces for children as we continue to train and hire more aquatic staff.
As of late January 2023, the YMCA of Greater Vancouver, which now operates the Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre and Cheam Leisure Center, says it has 26 lifeguards currently working at the two rec centres, a number it hopes to double sometime in the future.
