CHILLIWACK — A Caucasian male, possibly unhoused, was found deceased outside an apartment complex on Williams Street/Road north of Yale Road in Chilliwack over the weekend.

According to a Chilliwack resident who specifically asked to remain anonymous and did not want to be identified publicly, Chilliwack first responders were advised Sunday morning (Feb. 26) that a male was found lifeless outside the Williams Street/Road complex, approximately one block north of Popeye.

Google Maps lists the road as Williams Street, but City of Chilliwack road signs indicate it is Williams Road. The area in question is frequented by those experiencing homelessness.

A person who wished to remain anonymous said a male tenant approached her around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday morning and told her a male was passed out in front of the building on Williams Street. The anonymous resident thanked the individual for letting her know.

She went into the lobby of the building, peered out the window and saw the lifeless male on his knees, his body bent to the left side, she said.

“I thought he was passed out, so another tenant went up to him to wake him, shook him and called out to him and said, ‘wake up,’ but no response,” she said. “I felt his pulse, there was none. Then, I called 911.”

First responders attempted to revive him, but he did not make it. She says the man was pronounced deceased.

“I’m saddened by this,” the anonymous Chilliwack resident said. “I pray for his family for their loss.”

Another Chilliwack resident who wished to remain anonymous said she noticed yellow police tape outside the Williams Street complex as she drove by Sunday morning around 9:30 a.m., thereby corroborating the account from the aforementioned resident.

“I saw the yellow tape with the police around 9:30 a.m. Sunday,” the second Chilliwack resident said. “We kept driving straight.”
