CHILLIWACK — The start of a new month marks the end of an era for Tulip Donair, a destination in Chilliwack for hungry customers who craved donair, a Middle Eastern staple.

Tulip Donair, located near the Sardis Bottle Depot, announced late Saturday night (Feb. 25) that it has sold its business after almost 10 years. The business will continue under different ownership starting this Wednesday, March 1.

“To all our loving customers: Tulip Donair restaurant family would like to thank you for all your support and love. After almost 10 years we decided to move to our next chapter of our life and sold our business. It was such a memorable and well experience for us. We tried our best to make sure we give the best service to Chilliwack,” the Facebook posting read.

Tulip Donair offered delicious lamb, beef, chicken and vegetarian donair, platters with rice, and Western-style food featuring hot dogs, fries, and chicken nuggets to appeal to even the pickiest of eaters, along with pizza, poutine, and salads. It remains available for purchase on the Skip the Dishes platform.

Patrons could expect not only delicious food, but genuine smiles and gratitude from the friendly staff.

Owner Mina ran the business with members of her family. She is married with two sons and has two granddaughters.

The Facebook post alluded to a loan the business undertook when it first started.

“We started this business with almost [a] $50k loan and during this period of time, with all tough times, we made our goal with your kindness and support,” the Facebook post read.

Ownership wished the next business owners success as the business transitions to new faces, and said it would miss its customers.

“Another family will continue Tulip from March 1. We wish them all the best. Hopefully, one day we come back again with a better service and more variety of food. We love you all and best of luck to all of you,” the Facebook post concluded.
