Nevin Road west of Ford Road will be closed at the CN tracks starting Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22. Local traffic only will be permitted.

On Wednesday, McGrath Road (south of Yale Road) at the CN will be closed starting at 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday evening.

On Thursday, Ford Road (south of Yale Road) at the CN tracks will be closed starting at 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday.

The city says tracks will be impassable. Motorists are asked to please use an alternate route.

Construction work will include rebuilding of ties, rails, and asphalt restoration.

The City of Chilliwack wrote in its fourth quarter report on its website that CN Railway repaired four crossings in the fourth quarter due to urgent concerns. Those crossings included Lickman Road, Prest Road, Gibson Road, and Nevin Road.

“Over time railway crossings require maintenance and repairs due to the ongoing loading of vehicles and trains. Rehabilitation of the crossing surface, railway ties and/or ballasts are often necessary,” the city wrote.
