Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven receives $40K from province to buy equipment, reduce operating costs

CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven Society on Chilliwack Central Road will receive a grant from the provincial government to help it buy equipment and upgrade its facilities in order to enhance its services for people and animals.

In a news release Friday (Feb. 17), the B.C. government announced the Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven Society will be receiving $40,485 to install solar panels and heat pumps to help reduce operational costs.

This funding is part of the $140 million distributed annually to not-for-profit organizations that deliver services and make life better for people throughout British Columbia.

The society in Chilliwack is dedicated to “finding the perfect home for every cat in our care, helping displaced and homeless cats, helping pets stay in loving homes, and cultivating respect and awareness for the rights and needs of animals,” according to its website (www.chilliwacksafehaven.com).
