Aggravated assault in downtown Chilliwack sends 30-year-old man to hospital in targeted attack
CHILLIWACK — A 30-year-old Chilliwack man has been transported to hospital following an aggravated assault that happened Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 7) in the 9300 block of Nowell Street, not far from Yale Road and Young Road.
At approximately 3:30 pm on Tuesday, at least 10 Chilliwack RCMP vehicles were called to the 9300 block of Nowell Street after receiving reports of an aggravated assault. Information received indicated that a 30-year-old man had been assaulted and sustained significant injury, according to a statement from RCMP Sgt. Krista Vrolyk, media relations spokesperson.
First responders from the Chilliwack Fire Department performed emergency first aid on the victim who was initially unconscious and having difficulty breathing. The man was transported to hospital where he is being treated for his injuries, Sgt. Vrolyk advised.
Police are in the preliminary stages of this investigation but believe this to be a targeted attack, Sgt. Vrolyk said.
