Abbotsford police investigate armed robbery on Mt. Lehman Rd.

ABBOTSFORD — Detectives from the Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit are investigating an armed robbery that happened Monday night at a gas station on Mount Lehman Road just north of Highway 1, not far from Highstreet Shopping Centre.

On Monday, January 31, at 8:47 p.m., AbbyPD patrol officers were dispatched to a report of a robbery in progress at a local gas station in the 3200 block of Mount Lehman Road. The gas station was not identified by police, but it is believed to be a Shell gas station.

According to Sgt. Paul Walker, media relations spokesperson for the Abbotsford PD, a lone man entered the store, brandished a firearm, and fled after obtaining money and store merchandise. Although extremely shaken, the store clerk was not injured.

The Major Crime Unit has taken over this investigation and is in the early stages of this investigation, working on developing a suspect description from video in the area, Sgt. Walker said. Investigators seek witnesses and dashcam footage from anyone travelling in the area between the hours of 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Anyone with information that may be related to this investigation is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
