Prison staff at Kent seize over $100,000 in contraband containing drugs, weapons
AGASSIZ — It’s never a dull day, week or month at Kent Institution, the maximum-security penitentiary west of Agassiz, where authorities have intercepted yet another significant stash of illicit drugs and weapons meant to be utilized inside the prison.
The Correctional Service of Canada announced Tuesday (Jan. 17) in a news release that contraband and unauthorized items were seized during an exceptional search that spanned 10 days at the federal prison, between January 1 and January 11.
The contraband and unauthorized items seized included:
· 45.3 grams of THC
· 1.9 grams of amphetamines
· 12.7 grams of MDMA
· 15 pills of MDMA
· Unidentified pills
· 290.6 grams of tobacco
· 10 cellphones and 13 chargers
· One SIM card
· Six cutting weapons
