ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford police are asking for the public to step forward with information about two men who are not cooperating with an investigation into a hit and run that claimed the life of an Abbotsford man on December 11, 2022.

38-year-old Marc Ellis was struck and killed by a 2019 red Dodge Ram pickup truck while attempting to rescue a dog running along Lefeuvre Road.

The driver and passenger in the truck fled the scene on foot before police arrived. Investigators allege both had been attending a party in the area prior to the collision.

AbbyPD Major Crime Detectives have identified the registered owner of the truck as an Abbotsford business. However they say the owner of the business is resisting police inquiries.

Police have released a video that combines different surveillance video of the area around the time of the crash, including video of two people who police allege are fleeing the area of the crash.

“We’re appealing to anyone at this party to come forward and speak to the police,” said Sgt. Paul Walker. “We know people have vital information who were present at this party that will assist in advancing this investigation and bring the driver responsible for Marc’s death before the courts.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604 859-5225.
