CHILLIWACK — After a lengthy run in Chilliwack, yet another longtime restaurant in Chilliwack is calling it quits.

Rendezvous Restaurant, located at 9360 Young Road in downtown Chilliwack, announced on Facebook Tuesday (Jan. 3) that its last day of business will be Saturday, January 28.

It cited a substantial rent increase as the primary reason for its closure.

“Many of you have heard the gossip…and unfortunately after 21 years, our lease is up and we cannot afford the new increase in rent,” Toni and Dave, the restaurant owners, wrote on Facebook. “Where we live is very important to us, so whatever we do next will not change the way we support our community.”

The longtime restaurant operators thanked the Chilliwack community for their patronage and for keeping its dream alive.

“We love you, Chilliwack, & we thank you so very much for keeping our dream alive for this long & all the love you have given us! Super emotional…you guys really did this for us – 21 years! Thank you so much. Toni & Dave.”

Chilliwack has seen several non-chain restaurants close in recent years. Homer Restaurant, a fixture in the downtown core, closed its doors on June 10, 2022 after 54 years in business. It had been located at 46090 Yale Road.

Younie’s Restaurant closed its doors after 38 years on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2022. It had been located in the Shoppers Drug Mart parking lot at 45905 Yale Road.

Another staple of the downtown community, Friendly Banners, burned in 2018 and never reopened. It had been located at 45966 Yale Road in downtown Chilliwack.

In the past year, fine dining venue Vita Bella Restaurant on Luckakuck Way also closed its doors for good, only to be replaced by C-Lovers Fish & Chips at 45355 Luckakuck Way.
