ABBOTSFORD — Unsuspecting, vulnerable seniors are being targeted by scammers in a nefarious scheme that continues to circulate in the Fraser Valley.
According to a tweet from the Abbotsford Police Department Tuesday morning (Dec. 27), scammers have been repeatedly calling seniors in the Abbotsford area and pretending to be their grandchildren.
Abby police warn that scammers will try to convince grandparents that their grandchild has been arrested and needs immediate financial assistance in order to be released from prison.
“You may be asked to wire money right away without telling anyone. This is a scam,” the Abby PD wrote.
