Cheam, Landing Leisure Centres remain open today; other city facilities closed

CHILLIWACK — The City of Chilliwack wrote on its website Tuesday morning (Dec. 20) that it has closed several city-owned facilities due to hazardous winter conditions following the overnight storm that dumped at least 15-20 centimetres of snow throughout town.
The City of Chilliwack reported on its website that due to severe winter conditions, the Parr Road Green Depot, Sardis Sports Complex and Curling Club are closed today. Curbside collection has been cancelled today likewise.
City staff will reassess the situation at 2 p.m. today and decide whether to reopen the Sardis Sports Complex.
The only recreational facilities that remain open are the Cheam Leisure Centre and Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre; their gyms are open but their aquatic facilities are closed.
