Snow causing havoc through parts of Lower Mainland, moving into Fraser Valley
VICTORIA — Motorists in the Lower Mainland are being warned about travel along Highway 1 as a winter storm bears down on the region.
In a news release this morning (Dec. 18), the Ministry of Transportation is advising drivers of possible detours and closures on Highway 1 westbound through North Vancouver between Mountain Highway and Lynn Valley Road.
The ministry news release says, “police are dealing with spun-out vehicles westbound at the bottom of the cut. Tow trucks are restoring access, while the ministry’s maintenance contractor continues to treat Highway 1 with abrasives.”
It says those who are driving vehicles without winter tires should avoid the area while the snow continues to fall.
