Hope Fire braves wintry weather to extinguish fire just east of downtown Sunday

HOPE — Firefighters from the Hope Fire Department braved wintry weather when they responded to a structure fire Sunday morning (Dec. 18) on Riverview Drive in Hope, just east of downtown.

Hope Fire personnel were dispatched to reports of a structure fire just before 9 a.m. on Riverview Drive. Upon arrival, crews found a 2-storey residential home with flames visible at the rear and through the roof.

According to a Facebook posting from the Hope Fire Department, the occupants of the home escaped unharmed and there were no reports of injuries. Firefighters noted the home sustained extensive damage throughout the residence.

Hope Fire acknowledged the help of fellow first responders, namely the RCMP, the B.C. Ambulance Service, and the Yale Fire Department.
