CHILLIWACK — The Fraser Valley Regional District issued a statement Wednesday morning (Nov. 30) reminding Fraser Valley residents that it is not responsible for area road maintenance and upkeep.

It’s not known what prompted the statement, but the FVRD made it clear in a social media post that it is not involved in road maintenance in Chilliwack and the surrounding community.

“A reminder to citizens with concerns about snow plowing, potholes, icy conditions or any other winter road-related concerns that the FVRD does not have jurisdiction over roads within its boundaries and is not responsible for the maintenance and snow plowing of roads,” FVRD wrote on Facebook. “If you have a concern about road maintenance, please contact the relevant municipality or Provincial service contractor.”

FVRD said member member municipalities are responsible for road maintenance and snow plowing within their municipal boundaries, including Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Kent, Harrison Hot Springs, Hope, and Mission.
