CHILLIWACK — Canada Post disseminated a service alert Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 30), advising that there will be service delays to its residential and business customers in Chilliwack.

The Crown corporation issued a series of red and yellow delivery service alerts for portions of British Columbia due to inclement weather and significant snowfall.

In a news release, Canada Post said a yellow service delivery was issued for Chilliwack, Abbotsford, and Maple Ridge.

“A yellow service alert means we are going to do our best to deliver, but there may be delays,” Canada Post wrote. “Delivery will resume once conditions improve and it’s safe to do so. The safety of our employees is our number one priority.”

It did not say if the service alert also applied to Agassiz, Hope and Harrison Hot Springs.

Red delivery service alerts, which were issued for Vancouver Island, Metro Vancouver, and Mission in the Fraser Valley, indicate mail delivery service has been suspended.

An alert can be issued for a particular community or an entire province, depending on the weather event.

Today’s service alerts will be posted to its Delivery service alerts webpage, which lists all active and archived alerts and updates.

“We encourage customers to clear the ice from their walkways, stairs, and driveways, to ensure safe access to the front door for both their visitors, as well as their mail carriers, when service resumes,” Canada Post said in the news release.

If customers have questions regarding mail delivery, they can contact Canada Post’s Customer Service team online at canadapost.ca/support or by telephone at 1-866-607-6301 (TTY: 1-800-267-2797).
