Operation Red Nose kicks off tonight in Chilliwack, offering safe rides home during the Christmas season

CHILLIWACK — Operation Red Nose Chilliwack kicks off tonight (Friday), Nov. 25, offering transportation to Chilliwack residents who may have had a bit too much enjoyment at Christmas parties or other seasonal gatherings.

According to a Facebook post from the organization on Friday afternoon, Operation Red Nose in Chilliwack is back again this Christmas season.

Operation Red Nose is a national road safety campaign designed to reduce impaired driving during the Christmas season. The service started in 1984 and is available in over 100 communities across Canada, including Chilliwack.

A quick phone call puts you in touch with a team of volunteers who will drive you home safely in your own vehicle.

People who use Operation Red Nose can make a donation to help cover the costs of the program and help support Chilliwack Restorative Justice.

If you need a ride home tonight or Saturday night between 8:30 p.m. and 3 a.m., please call the Operation Red Nose personnel in Chilliwack at 604-391-1112 for a ride home in your car.

Volunteer applications for drivers, navigators, and office help are still available at the RCMP detachment, 45924 Airport Road, in Chilliwack.
