CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack School District is far from the only public agency in town grappling with labour shortages and insufficient staff rosters.

The Service B.C. office at 45467 Yale Road, next to the Free Reformed Church, had a sign posted in its lobby Monday morning (Nov. 21) that it has staff shortages and patrons should expect what it calls “significant wait times.”

The sign written on a white board in the Service B.C. lobby read, “Due to staff shortages, we are at essential services only. Sorry for the inconvenience. Expect significant wait times.”

Patrons are asked to check in at window No. 1 and then expect to wait a significant amount time in a crowded lobby, which numbered well over 18 people yesterday.
