Abbotsford man taken into custody on attempted murder charge
ABBOTSFORD — A 47-year-old Abbotsford man is being held in custody on a charge of attempted murder following an incident Tuesday evening along the rail lines near Gladys Avenue and Essendene Avenue in Abbotsford.
In a news release, Abbotsford police says Edward Mackenzie was holding another man in front of approaching rail equipment. The operator of the rail equipment applied the emergency brake and managed to stop just before making contact with the victim. The suspect immediately fled.
Abbotsford police arrived and quickly apprehended the suspect. Despite attempts to break free from police, the suspect was subdued and taken into custody.
The victim was shaken but not injured.
