Abbotsford police arrest stabbing suspect

ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford Police have made an arrest in connection with a recent stabbing in the city.

In a news release, police say 39-year-old Derek Wilkinson of Abbotsford was arrested Tuesday (Oct. 4).

Members of the Major Crime Unit were assisted by patrol officers in making the arrest.

Wilkinson is facing charges of Assault with a weapon and Assault causing bodily harm. He remains in custody pending his next court appearance.

Wilkinson is alleged to have stabbed a man early Sunday morning in Abbotsford. Police found the man in a parking lot at 31940 South Fraser Way. The 42-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries but he was expected to recover.
