Witnesses sought following early morning fire in Chilliwack
CHILLIWACK — Authorities are hopeful witnesses can help to explain a house fire in the 9600 block of Northview Street early this morning (Sep. 29).
Chilliwack fire crews were alerted to the fire at 3:45 a.m. They arrived to discover a cedar hedge burning, shooting flames 20 feet into the air. Fire officials say a second crew was called out immediately.
35 firefighters from Fire Halls 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 responded to the blaze. While firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other homes, the original home suffered major smoke and fire damage. A car was also damaged by the flames.
No one was in the home at the time of the fire and no firefighters were injured.
