Impaired driving suspected in fatal crash in Sumas Prairie
CHILLIWACK — One person is dead following a two-vehicle collision in Sumas Prairie Thursday (Sep. 29) evening.
Abbotsford police say a vehicle with three members of a family and a vehicle driven by a 50-year-old individual collided at the intersection of Wells Line Road and McDermott Road at 6:25 p.m. The driver of the vehicle with the family was killed at the scene. The two other occupants were sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene and has been taken into police custody while officers conduct an impaired driving investigation.
AbbyPD Patrol Officers and Major Crime Detectives, with the assistance of the Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Service, remain at the scene and are in the early stages of an investigation. Road closures are in effect from Wells Line Road between Bowman Road and Marion Road, as well as McDermott Road between Campbell Road and Vye Road.
