CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack School District Superintendent Rohan Arul-pragasam says he will review expected employee norms after one of the district’s employees liked political tweets from the district’s official Twitter page that did not appear to directly involve SD33 matters or public education.

The tweets in question have since been taken down, but one tweet that was liked from the official Chilliwack School District Twitter page came from Now This, an online news and information source. The tweet from January 17, 2018 said, “Sen. Kamala Harris just torched Trump’s DHS Secretary over her racist dogwhistling.”

The most recent tweet liked by the official Chilliwack School District Twitter page was September 25, 2022 in which Democratic operative Robert Reich wrote: “Jeff Bezos’ recreational space trip cost about $2,540,000 per minute, and we’re still arguing about whether the billionaires need to be taxed.”

Fraser Valley Today is not naming the school district employee involved in liking the political tweets. SD33 does not prohibit employees from posting on their own personal Twitter account as they see fit.
