CHILLIWACK — Updated at 11:34 a.m.: Chilliwack School District has announced on social media that the hold and secure at Stitó:s Lá:lém Totí:lt Elementary-Middle school has now been lifted. Further information will be forthcoming from the school, SD33 announced on social media.

ORIGINAL STORY

A police incident and investigation occurred Monday morning, Sept. 12 at Stitó:s Lá:lém Totí:lt Elementary-Middle school, 5337 Tyson Road, in Chilliwack.

Chilliwack RCMP are investigating an incident in a hold-and-secure scenario and have blocked off the entrance to the school at the southern end of Tyson Road.

Five RCMP vehicles could be seen from the end of Tyson Road with the possibility of additional vehicles on scene.

RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Krista Vrolyk said student and staff safety are paramount and police naturally have to investigate all incidents involving possible threats.

A parent of a child at Stitó:s Lá:lém Totí:lt Elementary-Middle school said his child had been let out of kindergarten in the past hour, as kindergarten students are gradually introduced to kindergarten during the transition period, but students have not reportedly been let out this morning.

Sgt. Vrolyk said more information will be released once she has an update on the situation.
