Filing period closes as Chilliwack candidates for mayor, city council and school board launch campaign
CHILLIWACK — The fall municipal election will feature an interesting array of Chilliwack candidates vying for mayor, city council, and school board.
Not only will Mayor Ken Popove have a challenger, 12 candidates will be vying for six seats on the Chilliwack City Council, while 15 candidates will compete for seven seats on the Chilliwack School District Board of Education.
Chief election officer Jacqueline Morgan, who will administer election protocol for the City of Chilliwack, released the full list of qualified candidates that filed the necessary paperwork by the deadline of 4 p.m. on Friday, September 9.
As mentioned, incumbent Mayor Popove has his sights set on a second term, but he’ll be challenged by Carmichael, a community activist who previously ran for council two times.
