Chilliwack School District launches search for new CFO/Secretary-Treasurer; applications to close Sept. 27
CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack School District will have big shoes to fill following the announcement earlier this year that chief financial officer Gerry Slykhuis will retire by the end of 2022.
Slykhuis, a Chilliwack resident, has been the secretary-treasurer since September 2013. He brought more than 40 years of financial expertise to the position. His responsibilities included finance, maintenance, student transportation and capital projects.
SD33 has begun its search for his replacement; the application period opened earlier this week and will close on Tuesday, September 27 at 3 p.m. Candidates will be notified by October 6. Interviews are scheduled, over a two-day period, and preliminary interview activities will occur on October 12. Final interviews will take place during the day on October 13.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will assume the position no later than January 1, 2023, with the opportunity to participate in transition activities beginning in November, and specifically November 24 or 25 with a trustee orientation. Details to be finalized at the time of appointment.
