CHILLIWACK — A relentless string of fires seem to be happening all over Chilliwack in the past two weeks.

Over two dozen firefighters from three halls in Chilliwack were able to vanquish a residential structure fire on Landing Drive on Skwah First Nation early Friday morning, September 2.

According to a statement issued by Chilliwack Fire Department Friday afternoon, fire personnel responded to a reported structure at 7:15 a.m.

Twenty-five firefighters from Halls No. 1, 2 and 4 were dispatched and once they arrived, crews discovered smoke emanating from an attached garage of a two-story residential structure.

Firefighters secured a water supply and quickly doused the flames.

The occupant was home at the time of the fire, but was safely evacuated and called 911.

A vehicle within the garage sustained significant fire damage. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Chilliwack Fire Department.

Yellow caution tape could still be seen Friday night from the residential structure where the fire occurred.

Friday’s fire marks at least the fifth fire in approximately two weeks.
