Dickey to seek 7th term on Fraser Valley Regional District board for Popkum and Bridal Falls; gondola project to impact Electoral Area D residents
POPKUM — Elected official Bill Dickey likes it when his constituents in Popkum and Bridal Falls do the talking and he does the listening.
He’s especially keen to hear their input on a number of issues over the next four years, like the proposed Cascade Skyline Gondola project in Electoral Area D, which he hopes to represent again as he seeks a seventh term on the Fraser Valley Regional District Board of Directors this fall.
“The central theme that I’ve tried to operate under is that the community of Popkum should not be run for the benefit of myself or for the staff of the FVRD,” Dickey said. “It’s the residents’ community. It’s their homes, their neighborhoods and their taxes. While I have been the Area Director, things have worked much better if Pokum’s residents do the directing and I do the listening.”
Bill and his wife, Tulia, have been residents of Popkum for 35 years. He trained as a forester and has owned and operated a small forestry business in the Chilliwack area for 35 years.
