Chilliwack Rotary book sale offers bargains for bibliophiles; proceeds support Rotary scholarships, feeding kids
CHILLIWACK — For over 115 years, Rotary has established itself as a worldwide catalyst for good by working to eradicate polio, and promoting the common good with the ubiquitous motto of “service above self.”
Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary who practiced law in Chicago, opined that “whatever Rotary may mean to us, to the world it will be known by the results it achieves.”
Toward that end, the Rotary Club of Chilliwack will hold its one-day book sale, only the third of its kind for the local service club, this Saturday, August 27 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the parking lot behind the Rotary building at 44870 Wolfe Road, about a one-minute drive west of the Chilliwack Coliseum.
There will be a huge selection of books, DVDs, and records with most priced from a loonie to $5. All proceeds go right back into the Chilliwack community that Rotary invests in, including the Rotary Vedder trail, Rotary scholarships for exemplary secondary students, the “Feed the Kids” program, and other community initiatives.
